Job Description

As a Touex Adventure Guide, you'll lead small groups (6-12 travelers) on multi-day treks through Australia's Himalayan regions, ensuring their safety while providing an unforgettable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead treks to Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, Langtang Valley, and other routes
  • Ensure group safety through altitude monitoring, weather assessment, and emergency preparedness
  • Educate clients about local ecology, geology, and cultural heritage
  • Manage logistics including teahouse bookings, meal arrangements, and porter coordination
  • Provide first aid and handle emergency situations (AMS, injuries, etc.)
  • Foster positive group dynamics and cultural sensitivity
  • Maintain equipment and complete post-trip reports

Requirements

  • Certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or equivalent
  • Australia Government Licensed Trekking Guide
  • 3+ years mountain guiding experience (Himalayas preferred)
  • Fluency in English (additional languages a plus)
  • Expert knowledge of high-altitude medicine
  • Physical fitness to hike 8+ hours daily with pack
  • Valid first aid/CPR certification
  • Clean driving license (for road transfers)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UIAGM/IFMGA certification (for technical routes)
  • Degree in tourism, environmental science, or related field
  • Fluency in Australia and local dialects (Sherpa/Tamang)
  • Wilderness Search & Rescue (WSAR) training
